Beauty Superstars 2016: LIPS 💄👄

Hello Loves!

My beauty favorites for 2016 continue in today’s blog post and it’s all about LIPS! This category is probably everyone’s favorite category and I know you would agree with me in saying that 2016 was a big year for lip products! I love lip products and in 2016 alone, I have purchased an embarassing number of lip products! But, there’s always room for lipstick, right? Haha.

2016 has been all about drugstore and affordable lip products! I have a few high-end favorites, but drugstore brands definitely rule the lipstick game for me!

The Lucas Papaw Ointment has been my favorite lip treatment. This versatile product not only moisturizes and cures my chapped lips, but it can also be used even for rashes and burns!

Happy Skin Cosmetics came out with a new range of products in 2016 called The Glam Squad. This range, which was in collaboration with the country’s top makeup artists, includes liquid lipsticks, eyeshadows and brushes. My favorite product in this range is the Liquid Matte Lipstick by Jigs Mayuga. This rose brown color is perfect for everyday use and the formula is so comfortable for a liquid lipstick!

Maybelline also came out with their Color Sensational Creamy Matte Brown Nude Lipstick range this year and I went crazy and got every color! Haha. But my faves are Touch of Spice (a rosy nude) and Burgundy Blush (vampy red similar to MAC Diva). These lipsticks are very matte, long-lasting and don’t dry out the lips!

MAC Whirl is a discovery of mine in 2016 and it has then become one of my favorite nudes! The matte formula is my favorite formula from MAC because they’re very opaque, long-lasting and comfortable to wear!

This list would not be complete without some Colourpop products in it! I really love Colourpop as a brand and they continue to amaze me with the products that they produce! My favorite product by this brand is their Ultra Satin Lip. They are similar to the Ultra Matte Lips but they are not as drying. My favorite colors include Lyin’ King and November.

I’ve been a fan of NYX Cosmetics since the beginning! I had a NYX Round Lipstick phase when I bought every color I could get my hands on! The brand also got on the liquid lipstick bandwagon and came out with the Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick and the Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick. These two have very similar formulas with the Lip Lingerie’s finish being more matte. They both however are very pigmented and last long on the lips.

The NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned is my one big lipstick splurge of 2016. I’ve always had this one on my wishlist and finally purchased one after watching another one of Anna’s (from the Anna Edit) videos where she rambled on about how much she loves this range. The formula is great and because this comes in pencil form, it’s very easy to apply. The only thing I don’t like about this product is that you have to sharpen it.

I definitely have to show some love to another local brand that have continued to amaze me with their products! Pink Sugar Cosmetics have amazed me with their face products, but their lip products are the true standouts of this brand! The Pink Sugar Lip & Cheek Tint is my favorite formula from this brand. They are not really liquid lipsticks because the formula is creamier. However, they work as liquid lipsticks because they dry matte and they last all day long! My favorite colors are Queen Bee and Vampy Vixen.

There you have my lip product favorites for 2016. As you can probably tell, I’m all about long-wearing and comfortable lip products! What are you lip product faves?

Watch out for my next blog post which will be about my favorite skincare products of 2016! Xoxo!

Beauty Superstars 2016: EYES

Hello loves!

In my previous post, I’ve shared my favorite face products for 2016. It was a rather lengthy post and if you read through the entire thing, thank you! This time around, I’ll be talking about my favorite eye products for 2016. I’ll quickly go through my faves as there aren’t a lot – I found that in 2016, I kept my eye looks to a minimum.

Eyeshadow Primer – The Too Faced Shadow Insurance has been my go-to eyeshadow primer for those times that I wore eyeshadow on my eyes. I have really oily eyelids and this primer just makes my eyeshadow last all day long! I also find that this primer evens out the color of my eyelids and makes my eyeshadow apply a lot more smoothly.

Eyeshadow Palette – The Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette is hands down my favorite eyeshadow palette in 2016! For all the times that I wore eyeshadow in the past year, I swear I have always reached for this  palette! This palette has a nice array of warm, earth tones! It also comes with a good combination of matte and shimmer shades that can easily take your eye look from day to night! The pigmentation is awesome and I love that this palette is quite affordable for the quality of the eyeshadows that you get!

Cream/Single Eyeshadow – The Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze has been my favorite cream eyeshadow for years now! Ever since I got my hands on one, I have been using it for times when I want a simple, fuss-free eye look! It’s pigmented, creamy and blendable! Plus, the color is just great for everyday!

Brow Product – Benefit launched a bunch of eyebrow products this year and I became an instant fan of the Ka-Brow Cream Gel Brow Color! This product has seriously worked wonders for my brows! The formula is not too waxy and not too hard either. The formula is just right and is actually very forgiving that it makes the brows look full and natural. It’s very long-lasting and waterproof as well!

Favorite Eyeliner – Happy Skin Cosmetics make really good eyeliners in both liquid and pencil form! The Eye Am Here To Stay 24HR Gel Pencil Eyeliner is my holy grail eyeliner! I first tried this eyeliner 2 years ago and since then, this is the only eyeliner I use on my upper and lower lash lines! I love it because it’s very long-lasting and does not smudge or fade throughout the day! The Eye Am Here To Stay Precision Liquid Eyeliner is my favorite eyeliner in liquid form because it’s very easy to apply and the formula is very black and dries matte!

Mascara – The Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara is one of my all time favorite mascaras! I’m a mascara junkie and I always go for mascaras that make my eyelashes stand out! This mascara from Rimmel lengthens my lashes and gives them volume! Too bad that this mascara isn’t locally available in the Philippines! If this mascara is available wherever you live, definitely try it out!

Thanks for stopping by today! My next post will be on my favorite lip products for 2016! If you know me and my lip product addiction, the next blog post will surely be a long one! Stay tuned! Xoxo!

Beauty Superstars 2016: FACE

Hello!

My last post was a bit sentimental and reflective as I said goodbye to 2016 and welcomed 2017! 2016 has been fun for me in terms of beauty and I thought of doing a series of posts covering my beauty favorites for face, eyes, lips and skincare. I wanted to do just one blog post of all my favorites but I reckoned it would be too long that no one would read it till the end!! Hahaha. So I’ll be doing 4 blog posts on my 2016 favorites and my first one is this one where I’ll be covering my favorite face products of the past year.

Primer – The W7 Cosmetics Prime Magic Clear Face Primer is a product that I have discovered in 2016. It’s very affordable and it surprised me how much I actually love it! It smoothes out the face, blurs out the pores and makes my makeup last longer. I find it to be a good match for my oily skin.

Foundation – 2016 was the year that I went all out with high-end foundations. I purchased 4 high-end foundations in 2016 but I still go back to my Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation. Of all the foundations I’ve tried, high-end or drugstore, this is the foundation that works well with my oily skin. The coverage is medium to heavy but it feels light on the skin. It just makes my skin look great without making it look like I’ve piled on a ton of makeup to my face.

Tinted Moisturizer/Light Face Base – The Happy Skin Face The World Air Serum is my favorite face base for those days when I don’t want a fuller coverage. This has a light to medium coverage and feels really light on the skin. I find that this evens out my skin and mattifies my oily face. This also has SPF in it which makes it great for everyday use!

Concealer – The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is hands down my favorite concealer ever! It’s affordable and does the job of concealing my dark undereyes and any blemishes on the face! A runner-up would be the L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer. This concealer has such good coverage and it comes in a wide range of colors that can be used from highlighting to contouring!

Powder – The Face of Australia Loose Translucent Powder is my holy grail setting powder. Not only do I use it to bake or set my makeup, but I also use it for touch ups. The powder is very finely milled that it does not cake throughout the day. The packaging is quite bulky but I always carry this one in my makeup kit everywhere I go!

Bronzer – Nothing beats Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer! There’s a reason that this bronzer has a cult following. I find that the color is just right for bronzing the face as it gives a natural sun-kissed look. This product is quite versatile as well because I sometimes find myself using it as a transition color on the eyes. Another product worth mentioning in this category is Pink Sugar Cosmetics Sweet Cheeks HD Cheek Color in Morocco. It’s one of their newest shades which came out in the latter part of 2016. This is actually a dupe for Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer but is a bit more cool-toned and can be used for contouring.

Blush – Pink Sugar Cosmetics Sweet Cheeks HD Cheek Color in Miss Independent has been my most used blush in 2016! I won’t be surprised if I hit pan on this blush soon! This matte blush is the perfect pinkish/coral/peachy blush which works well on my morena skintone! The blush is highly pigmented and is very long-wearing! It’s very affordable too!

Highlight – I only go for subtle highlights and the product that works well for me is the Essence Pure Nude Highlighter! This highlight is so beautiful! I love that it still adds a nice glow to the face even though it’s very subtle.

Watch out for my next blog post which will be all about my favorite EYE products of 2016! Xoxo!

Hello 2017 + New Year’s Resolutions

Hello!

Gosh, it’s been a long time since I just sat down and wrote a blog post! I know I am the most inconsistent blogger but sometimes, reality just gets in the way. 2016 has been a rollercoaster year for me – it was filled with challenges, anxiety and some of the lowest moments in my life. There were also some good things that happened in 2016 for which I’m really grateful. If there’s one thing that 2016 has taught me it’s that there’s no such thing as a perfect life and all our ups and downs are what make life worth living.

I welcome 2017 with an open mind and an adventurous spirit. I’ve been telling myself that 2017 will be my year – a year where I can concentrate on myself and follow my dreams. In the past, I didn’t really take New Year’s Resolutions seriously. Yes I wrote them down but I was never really good at following them through. And so this year, I will make it my personal mission to stick to my resolutions! God, help me!! Hahaha.

Health

This year, I plan to make health my top priority. It’s sad to say that I neglect my health most often because of my hectic job and that in 2016, I found myself sick most of the time. This year I plan to eat healthier and exercise!

Money

It’s time to be an adult! I have some savings but I feel like I can save more. I want to have a budget plan in 2017 and to actually stick to it! I’m not getting any younger and I want to be financially stable so I can actually enjoy my life!

Career

I’m in a job that I actually really hate; one that stifles my creativity. I gave the corporate world a good shot and I’ve realized that it’s not for me. So in 2017, I promised myself that I will work towards doing what I would really like to do full-time in the future which is to write and be a MUA. Of course I wouldn’t drop everything and leave my job right away. But I promise to do things that would get my creative juices flowing like attending classes, being a freelance MUA and blogging more!

Attitude

I used to be really conscious about what other people think or what they might say about something. I used to be really bothered by that. I also used to panic about the smallest things, even those that are out of my control. This 2017, I plan to be more chill and not let others opinions get to me. I’ve also realized that there are some things that are out of our control and we just need to let things be as they are. I’ve realized that I need to learn to move on and not let my mistakes define me.

I hope 2017 will be an awesome year for us! Wherever you may be, whatever it is you are doing in life, I wish you all the best this 2017! May you guys find your dreams coming true this year! Xoxo!

A haul of a few pretty things

Hello beauty addicts!

Today, I bring you a haul of some items I picked up from Sephora and Pink Sugar. I got my Sephora items before the black friday sale which was a bummer! But, I couldn’t resist the black friday sale and so I went back online to grab a few more items. Haha. I got brushes from the Sephora black friday sale, eyebrushes to be exact, as I needed some precise brushes to practice doing a cut crease look.

I only got three items from Sephora. I got the Nude Beauty Blender. I threw away my old black Beauty Blender as it was so grubby already. I tried other makeup sponges but I decided to go back to the Beauty Blender because there’s nothing like it IMO! I also got the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector. This has been on my wishlist for a long time and my friend and fellow blogger MakeupKeith only has good things to say about this primer. I have the Becca Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation and I thought that this primer would work well with that foundation. The last item I got from Sephora is the Zoeva Pink Spectrum Blush Palette. I already have the Coral Spectrum Blush Palette which I love so much! I got this palette with various shades of pink blushes since I really don’t have a lot of pink blushes in my collection. I’m thinking of getting the Nude Spectrum Blush Palette to complete my collection of Zoeva blush palettes but I’m trying to control myself! Surely I don’t need more blushes right? Haha.

I also picked up a few items from the local brand Pink Sugar Cosmetics. This brand is truly exciting and is changing the game in the local cosmetics scene. The brand recently brought out a new shade of the HD Cheek Color called Morocco which is a  cool toned brown shade. This product reminds me so much of the Hoola Bronzer by Benefit but for a fraction of the price! This product can be used either as a contour, a bronzer or a blush. The brand also brought out a few new shades of their Lip and Cheek Tint. I got the shades Posh Purple (a deep plum shade) and Queen Bee (a deep coral shade). These Lip and Cheek Tints are awesome! They last long on the lips and they’re very comfortable to wear! I have not used them on my cheeks because cream products on the cheeks are not my thing.

Hope you enjoyed my haul! Xx!

Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty

Hey!

Ugh Monday! How was your weekend? I had a lovely weekend as I had a pamper session at home. Mani, pedi, face and hair masks, the works. I like doing pamper sessions at home as it’s cheap and it’s more comfortable. Speaking of pamper sessions and face masks, I’ve been trying out the Lush Mask of Magnaminty for a month now and I am now ready to give my thoughts on this.

Mask of Magnaminty is a deep cleansing face and body mask. This product has clay and peppermint as it’s main ingredients which help clean out the pores. This mask also has aduki beans which exfoliates dry skin and vanilla absolute and honey to reduce redness and calm the skin.

I have oily skin and I find that this mask works well with my skin type. The peppermint scent is actually really soothing and very spa-like. The aduki beans in this which comes in tiny granules is great for exfoliating and cleaning out my pores. My skin did not break out with this mask nor did I find the bean granules to be too abrasive for my skin. I don’t find this mask to reduce the oiliness of my face; it just cleans it out and declogs the pores. I have not tried using this on my body but I can see it working for that purpose as well.

If you have oily, and I think even normal to dry skin, this mask would be great for your at home pamper sessions! It’s all natural, effective and safe to use! Go rush to a Lush store to try it out! Xx!

Longing to travel…

Hello loves!

I wanted to deviate from the beauty related posts today as I found myself browsing through the photos on my phone and I got a bit nostalgic with some photos I took during some of my travels.

I haven’t travelled anywhere this year. My work schedule just can’t allow it and to be honest, I’m saving up some money as I plan to move abroad hopefully by next year. I lived in another country for two months last year and I really enjoyed the culture and the independence.

This picture was taken at the summit of Mt. Maculot in Batangas, Philippines. I climbed this mountain last year with my cousins. I love climbing mountains and this by far was my hardest climb to date! It was worth it though as the view was just amazing!

This picture was taken in Guimaras Island, Philippines. The water was just so clear and refreshing! The entire island was just great – amazing people, good food and interesting historical sites.

Ahh Bondi Beach, Australia! This beach is breathtaking! Too bad I didn’t take a dip as I visited during the winter!

This was during a weekend trip to Tasmania, Australia. This is my favorite trip so far! It was super cold and I was bundled up in too many layers! And yes, that’s ice along the road! Tasmania is just paradise! Everything was green and beautiful! I will definitely visit this place again!

I can’t wait to travel again! I plan to visit Thailand or Japan in the coming year!

Do you love to travel? What is your favorite place or country that you’ve visited? Let me know on the comments! Xx!
