Goddess Awards: My Best Beauty Products for 2013

Oh my gosh! I’m so excited to do this post! If you remember from my previous post, I was a bit hesitant to do this post because it’s the middle of January already and I feel I’m behind with all these “best in beauty for 2013” blog posts. But, I decided  what the heck and just go with it! Haha.

So, I went through my ever expanding makeup collection to see which beauty items really stood out for me in 2013. I tried to pick atleast 1 product from each makeup category (foundation, eyeshadows, etc.) and I hope you guys will enjoy this post!

Best Face Primer, Foundation and Concealer

I tried quite a few face primers in 2013 but I always found myself reaching for my Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. This product really works for me in controlling the oiliness in my face. I am not saying that this product keeps my face totally matte throughout the day. But, it has an amazing oil-control power that I only need to touch up 1-2 times a ay.

Like primers, I tried a lot of foundations in 2013. But Collection Cosmetics’ Naturally Matt Foundation in the shade Almond really stood out for me. It has a matte finish which works well for my oily skin. It also works well when used with the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. I also love that it is a nice match for my skintone.

For concealers, I really enjoy using Collection Cosmetics’ Lasting Perfection Concealer. I’ve heard great reviews about this from local and international beauty bloggers. For me, this concealer is great because it gives good coverage. My only critic for this is that it does not have good staying power. But overall, this is a good drugstore concealer.

Best Face Powder

I used to be a Maybelline-pressed-powder-kind-of-girl until I discovered the Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Powder in Medium by Collection Cosmetics. This powder has good coverage and has really worked well with my oily skin. I also love the fact that it’s only Php 169!!

Best Blushers

I have been loving the Carmen Claire Kiss My Apples Lip and Cheek Cream in Berry Buttercream! This stuff has amazing pigmentation and staying power! This color is very easy to blend and gives the face a nice natural flush. I think this color would work well on different skin tones.

I have also been loving the Sleek Blush by 3 Palette and the Sleek Face Form Palette. These palettes are great for travelling because you get a 3-in-1 product. The Blush by 3 palette has 3 pigmented blush shades  while the Face Form has a contour powder, a highlighter and a blush in it!

Best Bronzer/Contour

This Essence Bronzing Compact Powder in Love to be Matt is an amazing bronzer/contour powder. I love that it is matte, pigmented and very easy to blend. Plus, this one is very affordable!

Best Mascara

I swear by the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara! This stuff is just freakin’ amazing! It gives you the fullest, most beautiful lashes ever! Enough said!

Best Eyeshadows

For eyeshadows, I couldn’t really pick one. This is probably the hardest category for me to choose products for!

Of course, you guys know I love my Naked 2 Palette from Urban Decay! It has the best set of neutral eyeshadows which are perfect for everyday, from day to night! I’ve reviewed this palette for Eye Want here.

Sleek Eyeshadows are pretty awesome as well! I currently have 3 Sleek Eyeshadow Palette which I love in equal measure! I have the Au Naturel Palette which has amazing neutrals. I also have the Original Palette which has a good mixture of colorful and earthy-toned eyeshadows. And I also have the Bad Girl Palette which has amazing smokey eyeshadows. If you haven’t tried Sleek Eyeshadows yet, be warned that these are crazy pigmented! But they are very soft and easy to blend!

Best Eyeliner

This category was basically a no-brainer for me! I knew immediately that my Zoeva Cream Eyeliner in Eclipse wins this category hands down! If you do not know how much I love this product, then you must check out my review here.

Best Eye Primer

I only got the Zoeva Eyeshadow Fix Matte towards the end of 2013 but this has been an instant favorite! I know that the description for this product says that it is for matte eyeshadows. I, however, tried this with shimmery eyeshadows and it worked well!

Best Lip Product

I have been loving the Korres Lip Butter in Quince! When I got this, I beat myself up for not trying this product sooner! This stuff is crazing amazing! It is a lip butter but I find myself using this every single day because it has a nice tint to it which makes it look as if I am wearing a lipstick or lip stain. Not only is this product moisturizing, but it tastes and smells really good as well!

Best Makeup Brushes

Another no-brainer category. Haha. Real Techniques brushes definitely raised the bar higher in terms of quality makeup brushes! These brushes has literally changed my life and the way I apply makeup! They’re just awesome! I really don’t have a bad thing to say about them!

Best Beauty Find

As a beauty blogger, I am constantly in the lookout for great beauty items. For 2013, my favorite beauty find is a skin care item which has made such a big difference in my skin. This product is the White Special Black Scrub Mask by Snoe. I love putting on Facial Masks and exfoliating my skin. This product really does  great job of exfoliating the skin and I have noticed that my blackheads and whiteheads are slowly disappearing.

What are your favorite products for 2013? Please comment below coz I’d love to know which product/s has made an impact on you in 2013.

Now, I am looking forward to discovering more beauty items in 2014!

Cheers! Xoxo!

Thanks dear! You should try Sleek Cosmetics. The brand is beyond awesome and they have some great products! But I mostly love their eyeshadows and blushes. Plus, they are very affordable as well. Collection Cosmetics is a UK brand like Sleek Cosmetics. Go check it out and let me know what you think! Happy new year to you and your family! Xoxo!

I’ve got face form in fair and the sleek blush by 3 in pink lemonade – they are awesome! I didn’t find that Baby Skin kept my oil at bay at all! Glad it worked well for you though! Xx

It blurred my pores really well but my make up just didn’t stay on. I use Laura Mercier Radiance Primer – it’s great for my skin. I’ve been using Baby Skin over the top to blur my pores but I can’t wear it alone. Loving the Sleek eyeshadow palettes by the way… I have four of them and they are incredible – such good value for money. Really pigmented, aren’t they? Xx

I would definitely have to check out that one by Laura Mercier. I have really oily skin and the Baby Skin only works for me but I still need a few touch ups within the day. I am still on the lookout for a primer that has incredible staying power!

Yes, the Sleek Eyeshadows are really amazing! I would love to add a few more of their palettes in my collection! 🙂

Really enjoyed this post doll! Didn’t know about the Maybelline pore eraser – I bought the Benefit porefessional but might try out your recommendation!

Great read BBG! And the fact that these are mostly very affordable ones excites me being a cheapangga that I am! I am also thinking of doing a blog on cosmetics being a make up artist and your blog is a great inspiration. Stay fab!

Great post as usual. I really need to try the Maybelline pore eraser, I have been using and loving the Fashionista Vanishing Cream over the last year, my large pores are less visable with it and it smells very nice too. x

Thanks for your comment and for reading this post! You should try out the Pore Eraser and see if it works for you. I’ve heard that it doesn’t work for everyone. So if it works for you, that would be awesome! Xoxo! 🙂

I’m a fan of Snoe and had been eyeing White Special Black Scrub Mask. I might try it one of these days. 😉 How long have you been using it?

    • beautybloggergoddess says:

I’ve been using it for 3 months now since I got it in the latter part of 2013. But I only use it once a week. So far, I’ve noticed that my blackheads have lessened and some of my dark spots have lightened. I think a tub of this mask will go a long way too since I don’t think I’ve consumed even half of its contents as of now. 🙂
