Eye Want! – Maybelline Color Tattoos 24 hour Eyeshadows

I’m sure all of you have heard about the Maybelline Color Tattoos 24 hour Eyeshadows. I believe it was launched last year but much to my dismay, it is not available here in the Philippines. I got mine from Luxola but even there it is a tad bit overpriced. Good thing I had a promo code then when I did my purchase.

The Maybelline Color Tattoos 24 hour Eyeshadows boasts of a cream-gel formula with up to 24 hour staying power. At first I thought that these would be difficult to blend but boy was I wrong! These eyeshadows are super blendable! They don’t easily set into my eyelids which gives me ample time to blend it. They are also incredibly pigmented and may be used on its own or as an eyeshadow base.

The two colors that I got are Tough as Taupe and Bad to the Bronze. I got these two because I have heard such great reviews about these and I find that these colors are very wearable.

Tough as Taupe, like the name implies, is a taupe color with a matte finish. I find that I like using this color as a base instead of using it on its own. As you can see, it is nicely pigmented and it really works well as a base for neutral or earth-toned eyeshadows.

Bad to the Bronze is a shimmery bronze color. This is my favorite compared to Tough as Taupe because of its versatility. This can be used as a base but I LOVE using it on its own just by applying it on my eyelids.

1. Richly pigmented.

2. Very versatile as you can use it as an eyeshadow base or as an eyeshadow.

3. Very blendable and works well with eyeshadows from other brands.

4. Packaging comes in a small, air tight tub which makes it perfect for travelling.

1. It doesn’t hold up to its claim as a 24 hour eyeshadow. I find that  it creases towards the end of the day. I also noticed that it creased a lot while I was out and about on a really hot day. I have crazy oily eyelids which is the reason why it creased but even with a good primer (like my Zoeva eyeshadow primer), it still creases. I would say that on me, the staying power for this is at about 6-8 hours only.

I hope you found this review helpful! I would still recommend this product because of the pros mentioned above. But for those with oily eyelids like me, you might need to watch out for creasing with this product!

It’s not available in the Philippines?? D= That’s awful. I find that using these as a base always bring an extra dimension to my eyeshadow. And to solve your oily lids problem, have you tried powdering your lids with a translucent powder? I found it helped with fading and creasing the other day!

Yes. It is not available in the Philippines. We have Maybelline products here but they are out of date. Can you believe that those Maybelline bouncy blushes were only made available here last year?! And as for the oily lids problem, I find that these color tattoos work well as a base but I find that it creases a lot when I use it on its own. I will definitely try your translucent powder trick! Thanks for the tip! 🙂

I love these color tattoo’s, I’m so glad you did a review. I was on the fence about buying any of them. On another subject….I came to follow you from my blog jumpingmouse and I wanted some advice on “opening” up the appearance of my blog. Right now it just seems so closed up. I like how you have yours. Any suggestions on the layout?

Hi Nancy! Thanks for your lovely comment. In terms of the appearance of my blog, the layout that I am using I think is called “Adele” and it’s one of the free layouts here in wordpress. With this layout, you can add widgets on the side depending on your need. For example, there’s a widget on how to put your twitter feed or facebook page there. You just have to go to the “Customize” on your dashboard. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions. I’d love to help as much as I can.

Same problem with the creasing! I bought this cause I wanted eyeshadow that I can wear to the pool (Yeah, yeah, I know)..It held up to my surprise but for some reason when I wore it on a regular day, it creased really bad…
