You may be wondering why I haven’t been posting anything about makeup school for the past 2 weeks. Well, it’s because I have been skipping class because of my erratic schedule. Last Saturday, I had to go to work (yeah, on a Saturday) to finish some critical tasks. I also skipped today’s class (which should have been my second to the last session in makeup school) because I went to meet my grandma, aunt and uncle at the airport while they waited for their connecting flight. Whew! Due to all my scheduling constraints, I asked the school to sign me up for make-up classes. Good thing that the school does this and is understanding of their students’ schedules since most of us are working professionals.
Even though I have missed two of my classes, I still practice doing makeup on my own time. Last night, while I was bored and was tired of reading those sappy, romantic novels which I seem to enjoy, I decided to play around with makeup. The look that I came up with is a smokey eye with a bold red lip! Had I been to class today, our topic would have been smokey eyes!
This smokey eye is simple and looks too subtle that I decided to pair it with a bold red lip. If I had on a bolder smokey eye, I would have gone for a nude lip.
Here’s a shot of the eye makeup that I did. It’s not quite clear (haha!) but I used a dark blue black pigment all over the lids and a nice shimmery taupe on the crease just to even out harsh edges.
I used the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation in the shade Soft Honey. This foundation has amazing coverage and decent staying power. To conceal my blemishes and dark under eyes, I used the ZA Cosmetics Concealer. I set my foundation and concealer in place using Snoe Cosmetics’ Poudre Extraordinaire. I contoured a bit using E.L.F. bronzing powder and I applied a light peachy cream blush from MUA Cosmetics called Dolly.
For my brows, I used the Etude House Brow Pencil and set it with the brow tint from the same brand. For the eyes, I applied a Virginia Olsen pigment called Blackstar Blue all over the lids and I applied the taupish eyelid color from the Wet N Wild Silent Treatment Trio. I lined my upper and lower lash lines using this Pixy Eyeliner in Black (which I’m loving by the way!) and applied 3 coats of the Essence Get Big Lashes Mascara! Lastly for the lips, I used this bright red lipstick from the Rimmel by Kate Moss Collection in the shade Kiss of Life!
I hope you guys like this look and I am looking forward to blog more about makeup looks in the future! If you have any looks that you want me to try, please comment below and let me know! I’d love to play around with makeup and see what looks I can come up with!
