May 2014 Favorites

I’ve never been one to do a monthly favorites blog post. It’s not that I don’t intend to do one; it’s just that it always slips my mind! Haha. Not a good excuse, I know. But it’s the truth, I swear!

So, with the intention of blogging more religiously, I will try (emphasis on the word TRY), to do a monthly favorites. I will really do my best to do this on a monthly basis! *wink*

For the month of May, which was scorching hot by the way, I only have a few products which really stood out. These products have been part of my skincare and makeup routine for the whole month of May (and some even in the previous months) and I’m freaking in love with these products!

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20

I’ve been using this product throughout the summer because of its SPF content and light-weight formula. I got the oil free version because of my oily skin. This tinted moisturizer is indeed light on the skin and is very easy to apply and blend. The oil controlΒ is pretty decent on this one. I find that I need to blot out the oil after 3-4 hours of application with no need to retouch with powder.

Smashbox Airbrush Whipped Whipped Cheek Color in Berry Bliss

This has been my go-to blush in the month of May! I love it’s deep berry color! I also love how easy it is to apply with just the use of my fingers!

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara

A friend of mine gave this to me when she came home from the US. I’ve kept this for quite some time with really no inkling to use it. Haha. But, I told myself to veer away from my Maybelline Volume Express Colossal Mascara and try other mascaras. This mascara comes with two wands; one for the upper lashes and one for the lower lashes. I’m pretty impressed with the formula of this mascara. It gives great volume and length. I got the non-waterproof version so it has the tendency to smudge. I’m still not sure how I feel about the mascara wand for the lower lashes because I am not fond of applying mascara on my lower lashes.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle

I love the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters in general! But for the month of May, I found myself reaching for this shade in Pink Truffle. It’s a beautiful neutral shade that’s very easy to wear and appropriate for daily use!

Happy Skin Eye Am Here To Stay 24 Hour Gel Pencil Eyeliner in Chic Brown

In the past, I wasn’t a fan of eyeliner. I find that they easily smudge on me that I have to retouch every few hours unless I want to look like a raccoon! Nowadays, I’ve been wearing this Happy Skin eyeliner EVERYDAY because 1. It doesn’t smudge and 2. It stays on ALL DAY! I only apply it once when I do my makeup in the morning and I don’t retouch it throughout the day! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this eyeliner! A detailed review on this product will be coming soon!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion

I’ve got a lot of blemishes and dark spots on my face due to acne scars. Ever since I started using this product from The Body Shop, I noticed that some of my blemishes and dark spots have started to lighten. I used to use a lot of concealer to cover them up. But recently, I noticed that some of these spots are barely visible with just a BB Cream, a tinted moisturizer (like my Laura Mercier one) or a sheer foundation.

Downton Abbey

I thought I might throw in a non-beauty favorite! Haha. I’ve recently started watching Downton Abbey and I’m in love with this show! I’m only in Season 2 so I still have more episodes to go through. But, I can’t wait to watch all the episodes!

Hope you all had a lovely month of May! I hope June will be an exciting and productive month for all of us!

Yes, the Revlon Lip Butters are amazing and very affordable too! I haven’t tried the the Body Shop’s tea tree oil yet. The only product that I have tried from their tea tree line is the blemish fade lotion. I must try the tea tree oil soon! πŸ™‚

The Body Shop do some amazing skin products. I had rough skin a little below my neck and nothing was helping me. I bought their shower gels and in first wash my skin went all smooth. I had been eyeing their Tea Tree range from a while now. After reading your review I guess I will buy it now. πŸ™‚

Forgot to mention, Downton Abbey is WOW!! I love period dramas and DA is simply the best. I can’t wait for it to return in September.
PS. Don’t forget to watch their Christmas specials because they are connected to the whole series. Season 2, 3 and 4 has them. Happy Watching!! πŸ™‚
