Goddess Does Makeup: Wedding Guest Makeup

My cousin Crissa attended a workmate’s wedding recently and I did her hair and makeup. The makeup I did on her was a simple smokey eye look which is wearable during the day and night.

Since Crissa was only a wedding guest and not part of the wedding entourage, I tried to keep the makeup as simple as possible. As a wedding guest, you wouldn’t want to outshine the bridesmaids, maid of honor and most especially the bride!

Here’s the final look that I came up with.

For the base, I wanted to use a medium coverage foundation that will stay on her face from the wedding ceremony to the wedding reception.

I first applied the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer all over her face. This is just to help her makeup last all day and to keep the oiliness at bay. For foundation, I decided to use the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation because it has amazing coverage and oil control. I did not do any contouring because my cousin has great cheekbones (I’m jelly!). I used some bronzer though and I mixed the Essence Bronzing Powder and the E.L.F. Bronzer together to bronze up her face a little bit. The reason why I used two bronzers is because the Essence one is too matte while the E.L.F. one is too shimmery and I wanted a bronzer that is not too matte and not to shimmery. I didn’t want her face to look too flat with a matte bronzer but I didn’t want her to look like a disco ball as well. My cousin has great skin so she did not really need any concealing. But I used the Mary Kay Concealer to add a bit of highlight under her eyes.

For her eyes, I used basic, earth-toned eyeshadows for a subtle smokey eye.

I primed her eyes using a Zoeva Eye Primer and I applied the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze all over her lids just to make the eyeshadows stand out even more. I used my Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Palette with the shade Birthday Suit all over her lids and the shade Voulez-Vous on her crease and the outer corners of her eyes. I also used the shade Fuzzy Handcuffs on top of her crease to eliminate any harsh edges and to highlight her browbone. I then lined her eyes using my favorite eyeliner as of the moment which is the Happy Skin Eye Am Here to Stay 24 Hour Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Chic Brown. For mascara, I use the Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara.

I filled in her brows using a matte dark brown eyeshadow from Inglot. For her cheeks to look flushed and rosy, I used a deep rosy mauve (the top most color that is literally shattered because I dropped this palette) color from an E.L.F. Blush Quad.  On her lips, I applied a nice peachy shade from Carmen Claire called Sun of a Peach.

For the hairstyle, I just parted her hair in the middle and placed a gold headband but I kept a few strands of hair from both sides of her head out of the headband. I then took these strands and twirled them going to the back of her head and secured these strands with a hair tie and a few hair pins. My other cousin, Krisha, helped out in blow drying and curling Crissa’s hair! It was really a team effort to help Crissa prepare for the event! Haha.

Attending a wedding soon? I hope this simple makeup look will be helpful in case you have no idea how to do your makeup yet. I think this makeup is wearable for any occasion. You can wear it for a birthday party, a dinner date or a night out with friends!
