Much to my dismay, we only have two seasons in the Philippines – super hot and super stormy! Haha. But, that doesn’t stop me from pretending that fall is here and wearing bold lips is in! I know I can wear bold lips any time of the year here, but let’s just pretend we have fall here, shall we?
When it comes to bold lip colors, I prefer them to be matte as they tend to stay longer on the lips. One really good matte color that I love is the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the shade Sultry. It’s a nice deep mauve shade that looks great on any skin tone. It’s quite long lasting and the matte texture of it does not feel uncomfortable on the lips. I also love the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in the shade Parisian Passion. This deep berry color does not set as matte upon application. However, as soon as the gloss wears off, it leaves a long lasting stain on the lips.
My favorite bold lip color is the Happy Skin Shut Up and Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie in the shade Girls Night Out. This plum color which reminds me so much of MAC’s Rebel is very long lasting, very moisturizing and is quite flattering on any skin tone!
I don’t wear reds often but when I do, I prefer deep reds compared to bright ones. A deep red color that I really enjoy wearing is the Sleek True Color Lipstick in the shade Cranberry. This lip color, which looks brown on the bullet, is actually a nice deep red color when applied on the lips. This color is also matte yet still moisturizing. And like all the Sleek lipsticks that I’ve tried, this one is very long lasting as well. Another red lip color that I love is Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in the shade Kiss of Life. This color is more of a true red but is quite toned down in terms of brightness which makes it flattering on my dark skin tone. This color, however, still looks nice on people with lighter complexions. My mother who is fair uses this lip color and it looks nice on her.
Swatches: Sultry, Parisian Passion, Girls Night Out, Cranberry and Kiss of Life
