Is this Clinique foundation worth the hype?

Hello loves!

How was your weekend? I have been looking forward to this past weekend so I can catch up on sleep and eat good food! Office cafeteria food is not that great you know. The weather has been really bad all weekend which made me really crave for some good ramen. But I can’t step out of the house because of the strong rains. Such a bummer.

Enough of my little rant because I’m not here to rant! Haha. In fact, I would like to talk about the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. This product has had a lot of hype recently because the Kandee Johnson loves this product! If you don’t know who Kandee Johnson is, where have you been???!!!

I decided to pick this foundation up and give it a go. I don’t hate this foundation but it’s not my holy grail foundation either.

I love the packaging of this product. It does not come with a pump which I prefer for liquid foundations, but it comes with a big doe-foot applicator which IMO is the next best thing to a pump.

I was color matched to the shade 66 True Beige. If I remember correctly, this was the darkest shade that they had at the store. The color is a pretty good match for my skin tone although I find that it tends to oxidize on my skin – it gets lighter throughout the day.

I find that this product has medium to full coverage. It covers a lot of my blemishes and dark spots. On the days when my skin is pretty good, I find that I don’t need to use another concealer as this foundation pretty much covers everything.

This foundation does not look matte on my skin. I’d say it has a semi-matte finish because it does have a bit of a dewy finish when I apply it on my skin. Having oily skin, I would normally shy away from non-matte foundations. But I really do like the finish of this foundation as it looks flawless and fresh.

This is my main issue with this foundation. It doesn’t last that long on my skin. I find that I have to blot around the 2-hour mark with this foundation even after I’ve set it with powder. I think that because this doesn’t have a completely matte finish that it’s quite hard to keep the oiliness at bay.

Here’s a picture of me wearing this foundation. Yes, I’ve recycled this picture from my Benefit Ka-Brow review. Haha. I really do like the finish of this foundation. I love that even if it is full coverage, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

I would rate this foundation a 3.5 out of 5 just because it does not last long on my skin. Have you tried this foundation? How did you like it?

This foundation works good for me. I have combo skin (oily t-zone, normal elsewhere). I wear a mattifying primer in my oily areas and I always set my foundation with powder. I’ve been using this for almost 3 months now (in rotation with other foundations) and have had no issues.
