Highlighter recommendations for those intimidated by the full-on glow!

Hello Loves!

Highlighters are so in right now that almost all makeup brands come out with their own version of highlighters. Admittedly, I was initially intimidated by the “glow”. Having oily skin, I didn’t think that my face would need more shine. Haha. But when I tried Jaclyn Hill and Becca’s iconic collaboration called Champagne Pop, I was immediately converted into this phenomenon!

Champagne Pop is definitely more out there in terms of the glow. I had to practice how to apply that highlight without making my face look like a grease ball. As my addiction to highlighters continues to grow, I’ve stumbled upon a few great product options for those who want to highlight but only with a subtle glow.

My first recommendation is the E.L.F. Illuminating Palette. It comes with 4 highlight shades of different tones that would match any skintone. If you’re a highlight newbie, I recommend getting this palette because not only is it affordable but it also comes with different shades that would let you play around and discover the best highlight shade for you. The shades are not as pigmented as say a Becca highlight. But the shades still give that subtle yet noticeable glow when applied on the face.

I also love the Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight. I discovered this one through Kathleenlights. It’s reminiscent of Champagne Pop but this one is definitely more subtle. Being that this is from Essence, it’s very affordable. It’s not as pigmented as Champagne Pop but it gives such a beautiful glow when applied to the high points of the face.

The first four swatches are of the shades in the E.L.F. Illuminating Palette and the last swatch is of the Essence highlight. As you can see, they are not that pigmented and are quite powdery. But I swear that these highlights are gorgeous when applied to the face!

Any highlighter recommendations? Xoxo!

I have that Elf palette. It’s nice. Give a subtle lit from within look. Some have said it’s a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette.

I’ve been loving the Lorac Lightsource highlighter in Twilight. It’s so smooth and a gorgeous light bronzey glow.

I also love my ABH Moonchild Glow Kit. But that’s definitely more out there. But rocking a blue or purple highlight it fun! They also make great eyeshadows.
