Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty

Ugh Monday! How was your weekend? I had a lovely weekend as I had a pamper session at home. Mani, pedi, face and hair masks, the works. I like doing pamper sessions at home as it’s cheap and it’s more comfortable. Speaking of pamper sessions and face masks, I’ve been trying out the Lush Mask of Magnaminty for a month now and I am now ready to give my thoughts on this.

Mask of Magnaminty is a deep cleansing face and body mask. This product has clay and peppermint as it’s main ingredients which help clean out the pores. This mask also has aduki beans which exfoliates dry skin and vanilla absolute and honey to reduce redness and calm the skin.

I have oily skin and I find that this mask works well with my skin type. The peppermint scent is actually really soothing and very spa-like. The aduki beans in this which comes in tiny granules is great for exfoliating and cleaning out my pores. My skin did not break out with this mask nor did I find the bean granules to be too abrasive for my skin. I don’t find this mask to reduce the oiliness of my face; it just cleans it out and declogs the pores. I have not tried using this on my body but I can see it working for that purpose as well.

If you have oily, and I think even normal to dry skin, this mask would be great for your at home pamper sessions! It’s all natural, effective and safe to use! Go rush to a Lush store to try it out! Xx!

W7 Cosmetics – Yay or Nay?

Hello loves!

It’s a start of a brand new week! I don’t love Mondays, but then again who does? Haha. To kick off this week, I’ll be giving you the lowdown of a makeup brand that has just reached our shores and is now available at BeautyMNL.

The brand W7 Cosmetics is a London-based brand that aims to provide good quality cosmetics at affordable prices. When you look at their range of products, you’d notice that they look really similar to some high-end products. I picked out a few items to try from the brand and I have been testing them these past weeks.

The Prime Magic Face Primer claims to reduce the appearance of pores and fine lines and allows the flawless application of foundation. This primer is really similar to the one from Smashbox but for a fraction of the price. I actually really like this primer! It has that silicone feel to it and it applies really smoothly on the face. It does blur out my pores and any foundation I’ve tried with this looks great. It also has incredible oil control which I love for my oily skin!

The Skin Fresh Concealer claims to hide blemishes, imperfections and dark circles under the eyes. I find this concealer to have a medium to full coverage that does not get cakey throughout the day. I love using it for my under eye area and for my blemishes as it effectively covers them up. This concealer applies smoothly and is very blendable.

The Hollywood Bronze and Glow is a deadringer for Charlotte Tilbury’s Film Star Bronze and Glow. This bronzer and highlight duo, I find, provides a subtle bronze and glow to the face. The bronzer looks subtle for my skin tone as it is a bit light for me. I make it work though by applying it over a cream bronzer. The highlight is my favorite! With my recent addiction to subtle highlights, I find that this one is just the right amout of subtle. It still provides that glow but it is not overpowering.

The Makeup & Glow Bronzing Base looks too similar to the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base. This is basically a cream bronzer. It does have a bit of shimmer in it but it is hardly detectable once it is blended out. It is quite pigmented but can be blended out for a more subtle look. I use the bronzer of the Hollywood Bronze and Glow over this to get the right balance of bronze. I bet this product would also look great as a body bronzer.

The Naughty Nine Eyeshadow Palette in Mid Summer Nights contains nine shades. I believe the brand has four variants of this palette and I got the one which I thought had the most warm colors. It looks like those MAC palettes of nine eyeshadows which MAC has brought out. The eyeshadows in this palette are nicely pigmented. I found them a bit powdery so beware of fallout. They are very blendable though and easy to work with. My only issue with this palette is that I was not able to find a good transition color among the mattes in this palette. The mattes in this palette have quite a pink or purple undertone to them. I wish that they added a nice orangey brown to this palette as a transition color.

Okay so I’m leaving the product that I don’t like last. The Kiss Proof Lipstick in the shade Cha Cha is a nice nude color. But here are my issues with this product. First, when I opened this product, the lipstick fell off. I’m not sure if I just got a bad product but the lipstick falling off from the packaging is not a good sign. Second, the formula of this lipstick is not good in my opinion. It appplies smoothly on the lips but it dries to a liquid lipstick texture that I find uncomfortable on my lips. It also emphasizes the lines on my lips which is not a good look.

Here is a makeup look I created using the products I mentioned above. I’m seriously impressed with the products (except the lipstick) as they all work well with me. I highly recommed their face products, especially the primer and concealer. I can’t wait to get my hands on their foundations so I can also test them out!

Have you guys tried this brand? How did you find it? Let me know on the comments! Xx! 😘

The L’Oreal Micellar Water – a new skincare staple!

Hello Loves!

How was your Halloween? I hope you had a blast! We don’t really celebrate Halloween in the Philippines and we don’t go trick or treating. But some do get dressed up and go to Halloween parties.

Since we’re talking of Halloween, I’m sure lots of you did some heavy makeup to go with your costumes. With the heavy makeup comes the dreaded task of taking it all off! May it be for Halloween or your normal day-to-day makeup, worry not because I have a great product recommendation that effectively removes makeup – the L’Oreal Micellar Water.

There’s a lot of micellar waters coming out on the market nowadays but out of all the ones I’ve tried, this one from L’Oreal truly stands out. The price point is great (Php 225 or around $5) and it’s the most affordable micellar water I’ve ever tried. It also delivers on its claim of effectively cleansing the face and removing makeup. And yes, it effectively removes even waterproof makeup! Seems like a heavy duty makeup remover and cleanser all rolled into one, right? But the best thing about this micellar water is that it does not irritate the skin and most especially the eyes. I’ve tried other micellar waters which irritated the hell out of my eyes! But this one from L’Oreal does not!

I use this product everyday to remove my makeup before going through my normal nightly skincare routine. But on those days when I get home late and I couldn’t be bothered to wash my face, I use this product to take off my makeup and then I use it to cleanse my face the second time around to effectively remove all the gunk from my face.

This product has truly become a new skincare staple for me and I see myself using this for a long time! Xoxo! 😘

Current blush fave – Wet N Wild Color Icon Blush in Mellow Wine

Hello Loves!

A brand new week dawns upon us! Time flies so fast that I can’t believe we’re reaching the end of October! Christmas is definitely just around the corner!

This time of year reminds me of certain colors – earth tones, deep plum or wine colors and beautiful mauves. During this time of year, I go for those shades when it comes to lipsticks and blushes. My blush pick for this season is Wet N Wild’s Color Icon Blush in Mellow Wine.

This blush is part of Wet N Wild’s reformulated blush range. It’s a matte deep mauve color that has amazing pigmentation and is long-wearing.

You seriously need to be careful when working with this blush as it is incredibly pigmented that your brush would pick up a lot of product. However, if applied with a light hand, you can get a beautiful color on the cheeks.

This blush is very blendable and applies smoothly. I find it to be very long-lasting even on my oily skin. All things considered, I seriously love this blush! I’m impressed with the reformulated blushes that Wet N Wild came out with and I can’t wait to try other colors!

Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder – Yay or Nay?

Hello Loves!

Happy Friday! It’s actually an off day for me today! Yay! So happy that I got to sleep in today; well not just sleep in because I woke up past noon! But I’m just so happy that I got too much sleep! My skin definitely needed that much needed beauty sleep!

I’m sure you’ve all heard about the Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder. Patrickstarrr uses it in all of his tutorials which is where I first saw this product. With the baking trend, loose powders have really become a makeup staple. I’ve been loving the Face of Australia Loose Translucent Powder since I got it in Sydney last year. That product for me has reached holy grail status in my opinion. However this loose powder by Coty is so affordable and is much more accessible that’s why I decided to try it out.

First off, this product smells really weird. I wanted to get that out of the way in case you are sensitive when it comes to your cosmetics smelling weird. It smells like old-school makeup; like something your grandma probably used back in the day. The good thing though is that you don’t get to smell its weird scent once it’s already in your face.

The powder itself is quite heavy and is not as finely milled as I expected. With that said, if you have a lot of lines around your eyes and on your face, I wouldn’t recommend this for baking as it would get cakey.

If you have oily skin, I highly recommend this product as it controls oil really well. I like using this powder to set my foundation and concealer as it gives a nice, flawless finish. I love that this powder does not have a lot of pigment to it because that way it does not change the tone of my foundation and concealer.

I highly recommend this loose powder! That is if you don’t mind its strong scent and the fact that the powder is not that finely milled.

Enjoy your weekend! Xoxo!

Get perfect brows with Benefit’s Ka-Brow!

Hello Loves!

I hope you’re all well today! I thought I’d check in with you today to talk about my current favorite brow product – the Benefit Ka-Brow! It is a cream-gel brow color; very much like a brow pomade.

This product is part of Benefit’s new range of brow products. A lot of products from the line caught my eye but since I still haven’t found the best brow pomade, I thought I’d give this a shot. The product comes in a nice pot with an angled brush. I must admit that the packaging is really nice and it feels luxe. The angled brush, which I initially thought would be useless, is actually really great for drawing in precise brows!

The formula itself is amazing! It’s waterproof and in my experience, is also budge-proof! The color is quite forgiving as it is not that pigmented. I prefer less pigmented brow products as I find them easier to work with and they look more natural on the brows. The shade that I use is shade 4.

Here’s a picture of me with the product on my brows. I find with the Ka-Brow that I no longer need to set my brows with a brow gel or an eyeshadow. I love this product and I highly recommend it!

Have a nice brow day! Xoxo!

Two Origins products I’ve added to my skincare routine…

I’m a newbie to the brand Origins. My fave British Youtubers talk about this brand a lot but the brand was not available in the Philippines when I first heard about it. Luckily, Origins is now available in the country and they now have a few pop-up stores around the metro. The brand has a store at the SM Mall of Asia where I first checked out their products and I now have two products from their extensive range that I love and have quickly become staples to my skincare routine!

The Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask has quickly become my favorite face mask! Being a face mask junkie, I love trying face masks and I have quite the collection of face masks! This charcoal mask is by far the best mask I’ve tried because it just works! It cleans out my pores effectively and over the time that I’ve been using this mask, I’ve noticed how smaller my pores have become!  It’s active ingredient is Bamboo Charcoal which acts like a magnet that sucks out all the dirt from the pores. I highly recommend this mask if you have huge pores and oily skin like me!

I’ve tried a few eye creams these past few years but none has made an impact on my undereye area. The Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream is the eye cream that has worked for me so far! This eye cream is meant to moisturize the area around the eyes and to reduce dark circles and puffiness. It’s active ingredient is coffee which instantly refreshes tired eyes. I do have dark circles around my eyes and my eyes get puffy whenever I don’t get enough sleep. This eye cream has greatly helped in reducing puffiness. It’s great to use in the morning after a tiring night but I still use it everyday as I have noticed that it has also helped in lightening the dark circles around my eyes. This eye cream is recommended for basically all skin types. Even though the texture of this cream is very creamy, it does not feel heavy around the eyes and it does not cause any makeup I’ve applied around my eyes to go cakey.

Have you tried any Origins products? What are you faves and recommendations?
